Whitelane Workshop Space

Whitelane workshops

Whitelane workshops have been structured to offer the beginner and intermediate sewist a safe space to explore new techniques, building upon one's own experience and previous Whitelane workshop content.

Our studio is equipped with machinery for your use (no need to bring a sewing machine) with some workshops including hard to source materials. A large bright space with large tables for cutting out your patterns, we have designed the studio with the sewist in mind.

Most workshops offered by Whitelane are limited to 5 participants to ensure adequate social distancing as per government guideline and ensure enough table space for everyone. It is also a requirement to check in using the Check In Qld app and be fully vaccinated against COVID19 to participate in workshops (unless a medical exemption applies).

We welcome keen sewists from age 15+

Located upstairs at 353 Ruthven st (no wheelchair access), we are centrally located in the Toowoomba CBD with plenty of off street parking options nearby. For those from out of town, see the Grand Central Parking link for a discounted rate, just a short stroll from the studio.

We look forward to seeing you :)

Our equipment

Our studio is furnished with a variety of sewing machines, both industrial and domestic, to offer a range of sewing experiences.

Our industrial suite includes a Juki 9000B manual & 8000A computerised lockstitch machines, Juki 6841s Overlocker and a Singer blind hemmer. The mainstays of the industrial environment and the perfect introduction to commercial sewing operations.

Our domestic suite includes 5 identical Janome DC6050 machines, a fully computerised model with multiple stitches and one step buttonhole. This machine is perfect for the workshop environment, novice and experienced sewist alike.

It is our goal to provide our students with experience on different machine to maximise learning opportunities, whether your goal be upskilling for your own pleasure or training for a career in the production industry.

The space

A beautifully airy space, our space is housed in a lovely hertiage building with pressed metal ceilings and is flooded with natural light.

Equipped with large bar height tables, a change room, pressing station and dressmaking manikins in a variety of sizes, this studio space is one that sewists will envy.
